Mobile phones from OnePlus continue to refuse a function that has long since become standard with other manufacturers. That could change with the next generation - at least with the top model OnePlus 8 Pro.
It is currently speculated that at least the top model of the next OnePlus generation can be charged without cables. The reason for these reports is a tweet by Leaker Max J., who has posted a corresponding picture on Twitter - but together with the note that it would only be an illustration. But the topic is not entirely out of thin air. OnePlus could actually take the step towards wireless charging in 2020.
According to previously published information, the battery of the OnePlus 8 Pro should have a capacity of 4,500 mAh, which is 500 mAh more than the standard version of the next mobile phone. The battery should also be able to be charged with up to 50 watts in quick charge mode - significantly faster than with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Lite. The only thing missing is wireless charging to make the OnePlus 8 Pro even more interesting.
It remains unclear why the Chinese manufacturer has so far refrained from introducing wireless charging according to the Qi standard, even in the drilled Pro versions. Since the back of OnePlus cell phones has been made of glass for a long time, there is at least no architectural limitation. In the past, OnePlus had argued that wireless charging was too slow. At least as an alternative way to get the battery full again, charging without cables should have become attractive enough by now. Xiaomi's Mi Charge Turbo, for example, enables wireless charging with 30 watts.
